Katherine "Kathy" Brewer was born on February 25, 1941, to the late Willis and Leona Brothers. She was raised and educated in Chicago, Illinois, where she attended both high school and college.
In May of 1967, Katherine married William "Bill" Brewer. Together, they relocated to Gary (Miller), Indiana where they built their life.
Katherine worked faithfully as a ticket agent for the railroad until illness required her to retire early.
Kathy started studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses, in 1981, and she was baptized at the Assembly Hall in Chicago located at 79th Ashland Avenue. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on June 19, 1983. Even though she was homebound for many years, she was faithful in attending the meetings on Zoom Telephone Tie-In with Miller Beach Congregation and rarely missed even when she was temporarily at the hospital or a rehabilitation facility.
Affectionately known as "Grand Pretty", by her grandchildren, the name was lovingly given by her husband, Bill, who often said Kathy didn't look like a grandmother at all. He encouraged the boys to call her "Grand Pretty", a name that later became "GP" for some as they grew older.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; Willis and Leona Brothers; her beloved husband, William "Bill" Brewer; two sons, William Brewer, Jr., and Carl Brewer; daughter, Theresa Brewer- Logan; three grandsons, William Brewer, III, Gregory Boyer, and Bryan Brewer.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory: two brothers, Solomon and David Brothers; daughter-in-law, Denise Brewer; son-in-law, Aubrey Logan; five grandsons, William (Lavita) Horton, Steven Horton, Aaron Brewer, Quentin (Amanda) Brewer, and Jeffery Brewer; granddaughter, Alicia (Yohance) Harrison; five great-granddaughters, Jakyra Horton, Tamia Mainor, Naija Jones-Horton, Arianna Brewer, and Amirah Harrison; two great-grandsons, William Horton, Jr., and Seth Harrison; three great-great grandchildren, Jamir, Jamilah, and Jamia Mainor; and a host of cousins and friends.
Kathy spoke lovingly and openly about her life and the special bond she shared with her husband, Bill.
Katherine "Kathy" Brewer will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Her memory will continue to be cherished as we hold on to the promises of Revelation 21:4 " And He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.
