Shirley Ann (Adamson) West

Mrs. Shirley Ann West, age 83 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Methodist Hospital Southlake Campus, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on April 22, 1942, in Gary, Indiana to Maryland Sr. and Isabelle Adamson.

Shirley was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 57 years, Willie West; her beloved parents, Maryland, Sr. and Isabelle Adamson; her only daughter, Isabelle (Penny); her siblings, Maryland, Jr., Gloria, Samuel, and Andrew.

She was a faithful member of First A.M.E. Church and a graduate of Roosevelt High School. Throughout her life, she served her community working as a bank teller and later as a foster grandparent with the Gary Public School System. Shirley enjoyed traveling, the casino and puzzles. She took pleasure in life's simple joys.

She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. her kindness, strength, and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memory: her loving children, William West, Sr., Kenneth (Angela) West, Brian West, Sr., and Eric West, Sr.; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings, Verna (Sam), Lynn, Marlene, and James (Anita); her special niece, Vonda; her special friend, Sue Drapac; and a host of other family members and dear friends.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, January 31, 2026, 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. from Ridgelawn Funeral Home 4201 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408.
